If there's one thing I cannot stand it's a funky smell in my house! A few days ago I walked in the door with an arm full of groceries and was hit by a strange stench. I ditched the bags and immediately began sniffing. I searched and searched, sticking my nose in every room, closet and dog bed in the house until finally I found it. The garbage disposal. It seems that someone put tuna fish down the drain and didn't wash it out!! The solution to such a stench (aside from schooling my family on the don'ts of tuna disposal)? Homemade Cleansing Tablets that I make with Lemon and Lavender. **I originally made these for the garbage disposal but since then I've used them in the dishwasher, the washing machine, I even threw a few in the tub at bath time! That's right! Soothe your skin & calm your nerves with the same tablets that you clean the house with!**

I love to scrapbook. I'm always saving little things here and there thinking "What can I make these into?" I have entire jars full of string (yes ladies...a string jar), bottle caps, yarn, plastic and the one that disturbs most of my friends, doll hair. No, im not a serial killer of dolls but I do weave their hair into recycled paper. I went around my house a couple of days ago grabbing any extra things lying around and ended up with old white envelopes, old business card tags, loose pages from a book that lost it's binding and round coffee filters.

Cornbread! Cornbread! Cornbread! What southerner doesn't love it?! I usually go for the typical sugar cornbread recipes but today I woke up and felt a little spicy! For this recipe I left out the sugar and added cheese and jalapeno! I'd say that's a pretty fair trade. This cornbread went really well with my Balsamic Red Onion Chicken with Black Beans.
Did someone say breakfast?! Breakfast is my fiancés favorite meal of the day so I try my best to fill his mornings with yummy food and plenty of coffee. While he absolutely adores cereal and milk (no really, he does), sometimes I surprise him by actually cooking. I am definitely not a morning person but making food for loved ones always makes me happy!

Two of my favorite things! Chicken and Black Beans! I eat this at least twice a week. It's great right outta the pan but put this mixture in a tortilla with some lettuce and sour cream and Oh My Goodness! I've actually eaten a whole pan of this by myself. (Shhh! Don't tell my family!) I usually make this in a large non-stick skillet but recently I got a cast-iron skillet and I liked it so much that I don't think ill ever make it in anything else.
This recipe has two parts, a fudgy brownie and a delicious frosting that goes along with it! This is a cast-iron skillet recipe but you could certainly make this in a 10 inch baking dish. The frosting recipe is also multi-purpose. Along with brownies it can also be used on cakes, cupcakes, ice cream, cinnamon rolls and fruit. I used it like a dipping sauce once at a dinner party and paired it with fresh fruit and sweet breads. It was a big hit!

I was recently surprised by my wonderful fiancé with the gift of a Cast-Iron Skillet! This chicken is the second recipe I have made in it & it was delicious! If you don't have one of these skillets I highly recommend picking one up. They are fabulous for cooking and the clean up is a breeze! Okay! Enough about my new favorite cooking vessel and onto the Skillet Rosemary Chicken!

Chicken. Bacon. Pasta. Yum!! I made this recipe up one night when I had a terrible craving for pasta and found myself fresh out of my homemade tomato sauce. These ingredients are basic things I always have on hand. Pics are coming soon!

In New Bern, North Carolina, about 45 minutes from where I was born, gorgeous churches line the streets of the downtown area. A work friend and I made it a tradition to take a weekend off work and travel to New Bern to see the beautiful cemeteries there. These photos were taken in the side yard of our favorite and most visited church.

I love taking walks. It's what I do when I need to clear my head. Xmas day 2012 was a particularly busy day for me and the park down the street was calling my name! I grabbed the fiancé (he doesn't love walks but he loves me) and headed out down the road.
I love nature and nature loves me! Or at least I hope it does. I'm from North Carolina but my fiancé convinced me to move to South Florida and boy is it different! Lots of spoiled girls driving expensive cars but not so much nature. After two weeks of my constant nagging my fiancé broke down and took me to the Everglades!!
Who doesn't love power lines at sunset?! These photos were taken on a trip down a wonderfully long road that leads to the Everglades in Southern Florida. I convinced my fiancé to take me out of the manicured existence that is most of Florida so that I could see some nature! I'm a country girl, I wanna see forests, not golf courses!

This is another one of the recipes that I inherited from my Great Grandmother Lucille. As children my cousins and I begged her to cook this Ziti but it was so special to her, she only made it on holidays. This is honestly the best Ziti I have ever had. Zesty tomato sauce, bell peppers and cheese all wrapped around perfectly cooked pasta!! I like to serve it with an olive platter, garlic bread and red wine. Delizioso!
